Roscomare Residence

Stately and elegantly, this custom Spanish Revival residence and carriage house graces a tricky hillside lot in Bel Air. This 10-room home required careful planning to meet a strict deadline. Graceful archways, vaulted tongue-and-grove beamed ceilings, rooms lined with built-in bookcases and window seats also called for exacting attention to detail throughout the construction process.

Lombardy II Residence

When homeowners of the Lombardy Residence invited Chelsea to work on another round of remodeling and additions to their home, we accepted with enthusiasm. For this second phase, we focused on creating smooth transitions – making sure any additions matched perfectly with the existing home.

Glenroy Residence

KITCHEN Expressed through natural finishes and subtle details, the Glenroy kitchen offers a warm, yet minimal aesthetic. As work surfaces come to the foreground, waterfall countertops and flat panel cabinets recede into the background – creating visual continuity throughout the space. The palette of natural materials and neutral tones becomes a canvas for colorful fruits and vegetables. Appliances and light fixtures remain unobtrusive and draw attention to the windows, creating a sense of openness and connection to the outdoors. With the intelligent use of texture and material, the Glenroy kitchen communicates a beautiful balance between warmth and restraint.

POOL BATH While designing the Glenroy pool bath, our Design Team was set on capturing the essence of a warm summer day. Considering which colors truly embodied this feeling, they dismissed the obvious blues often used in pool baths and instead chose warm grays and a vibrant chartreuse. Black floor tiles and hardware were selected not only to ground the space, but also to tie it back to the darker tones used within the home. Designed to withstand frequent traffic from the pool, the Glenroy bath is dressed in glossy tiles and durable man-made stone to ensure it lasts for years and years to come.

Kewen Residence

This Pasadena kitchen remodel proved quite a challenge for the Chelsea Design and Construction team. The existing space was so dark that even on the brightest day you had to have all the lights on. The first thing the Chelsea Team did was study the possibility of a large skylight to bring in as much natural light as possible. Pair that with raising the ceiling to allow for taller and larger windows, this kitchen now shines even on the dullest day! Custom made parquet flooring brings warmth and texture into the room, while the creamy custom-made cabinets bring in a splash of color that still feels fresh and new, yet ageless. The cozy seating area, the comfortable eat-in dining table, and the oversized island barstools allow for many to gather in this kitchen while staying out of the way of the production. This truly is an entertainer’s kitchen.

Lombardy Residence

This gut renovation and addition of a three-story wing to this 1928 Italian Revival estate required some tricky construction feats. In order to add a new basement beneath the original house, Chelsea slipped steel girders under the existing home to secure it while they dug out the basement. The interior remodel preserved much of the original detail of the home while the new wing paid homage to its historic elements. Chelsea built a new cabana with indoor and outdoor kitchens, a dining patio with outdoor fireplace and a sizable interior sitting room for entertaining. The project was a true collaboration with the client who selected all the materials, tile, stone, fixtures and finishes herself. The end result is a stunning estate, designed for today’s living while respecting the 1928 character of an historic home.

Westhaven Residence

Passed down from generation to generation, the Westhaven residence holds a special history. As an homage to the family, the homeowners sought to adapt the space to better suit their young family, while keeping the original character of the home. Bold fixtures, elegant wainscoting, a stunning coffered ceiling – a residence with an emphasis on both luxury and tradition.  

Comstock Residence

This sprawling traditional home in the Holmby Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles had seen better days when Chelsea was called upon to gut and renovate the main house and pool house. Respecting the architectural integrity of the home while bringing it into the 21st Century was of paramount importance. By reworking the Maid’s room and laundry, the kitchen was expanded to better suit today’s lifestyle. The pool house was fitted with an indoor/outdoor kitchen and dining area as well as recreation room with a bar for optimal entertaining. One of the coolest requirements of the program included retaining the speakeasy bar hidden behind a bookshelf in the family room rumored to have been frequented by the Rat Pack back in the day.

St Albans Residence

Chelsea Design and Construction helped breathe new life into this San Marino home by tackling an interior kitchen and master bathroom remodel, as well as renovating the rear façade of the home, including new windows and new trellises to activate the exterior spaces. The interior spaces felt disconnected from the home, in both circulation and style. The Chelsea Team worked hard to keep the integrity of the existing home by using traditional materials in modern ways to ensure the spaces were unique and timeless. With attention to matching custom wood doors and windows, seamlessly blending in flooring into adjoining spaces, and taking advantage of the homes soaring roof heights, these spaces are now what they always should have been.
